Troubleshooting
Fix shortcut conflicts, permissions, missing inputs, and find saved projects.
A shortcut opens the macOS capture tool
macOS owns ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4, and ⌘⇧5 by default. In System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts… → Screenshots, turn off the matching macOS shortcut. You can also choose different keys in Screenflare Settings → Shortcuts.
Screenflare cannot capture the screen
Open Settings → General → Permissions and review Screen & System Audio Recording. After enabling it, use the restart action Screenflare offers so macOS applies the change to a fresh app process.
Microphone, camera, or keystrokes are missing
- Review the matching permission in Settings → General → Permissions.
- Select the microphone, camera, or Keystrokes control in the Capture bar before recording.
- Restart Screenflare if you just enabled Input Monitoring.
These sources cannot be added after a recording if they were not captured.
Find a recording
Open Recording History from the Screenflare menu bar item. To open the library folder in Finder, use Settings → Library → Reveal Library in Finder. Projects keep the original recording and edits separately, so reopening one does not lose the source video.
Find a screenshot
Open Screenshot History from the menu bar. To remove one from the history without deleting its exported image, right-click it and choose Remove from History.
Still stuck?
Check Screenflare → Check for Updates… first. When reporting a problem, include the macOS version, Screenflare version, capture target, and the step that failed. Never include a private recording unless you intend to share it.
